Can you run this command in a terminal and send the results?
/usr/lib/cups/backend/hp
What distro are you using? Also try restarting HPLIP and CUPS
/etc/init.d/hplip restart
/etc/init.d/cups restart
(sometimes cups=cupsys)
and then try running hp-setup again.
If /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp shows your printer try running "hp-setup -g"
and post the output.
If your printer isn't displayed with /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp try
disconnecting and reconnecting the printer, and run "lsmod | grep usb"
and post the output.

I have managed to to use this printer via cups web interface and the
printer works fine
I tried using hp-toolbox , and get back no hp devices found . to
install ....
so i removed the printer via cups web interface and tried installing
with hp-setup and get
[ERROR]: No devices found.
[ERROR]: Error occured during interactive mode. Exiting
its odd how i can use the printer fine with the cups web interface
without any problems but not with hp-setup.
the reason i want to use hp-setup is so that i can check ink status and
other maintaince features..
