I did not enter the ppd path manually. Actually this was my first thought but then I thought I should leave this taks to hplip. I followed your advice in the side note which made me download a multitude of dependant packages in addition to the ones that you explicitly named. Then I did "make uninstall" and "make clean" to have a perfectly clean base to start from. Finally I started the compile again from scratch. This time it worked ok and in consequence, the setup was the usual hplip breeze. Thanks again for your great help. Not to mention the great work on this piece of software that enables us to use most hp printers in a way that is absolutely competitive to what windows users commonly expect. regards Eberhard _______________________________________________ HPLIP-Help mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/hplip-help
