Igor,

Can you also set the cups loglevel to debug and run

tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log

Info on how to set the cups loglevel:

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/troubleshooting/printing.html

(Issue 2)

try and print and send that log as well.

Thanks!

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

I am using hplip-0.9.11-1.2 which comes with Fedora Core 5. The ppd file is also from the distro. As I said, it is identical to the ppd provided by linuxprinting.org.

Honestly, I would not like to reinstall hplip from source, as this would complicate further updates. Also, it seems the problem is not with the software but rather with the ppd file...

Thanks for your help,
Igor

The LaserJet 1320 is supported by HPLIP. Are you using the HPLIP application or are you only using the ppd file?

Possible to install HPLIP and try again?

Thanks!

Aaron

Dear Sir,

I have just posted a message at the HP group of the linuxprinting.org forum. However, it seems nobody is answering there... So I duplicate my problem report in the hope it will be considered.

Thanks in advance,
Igor Antokhin

I have a problem with HP LaserJet 1320 in Fedora Core 5 (cups-1.2.1-1.7)

When sending a file to the printer via lpr or a2ps of just when printing the test page from the cups web-interface, I don't get any printout. The green button LED is on, the orange LED (attention) is flashing. If I press the green button the job is printed ok. It seems cups just does not send the FF at the end.

The Fedora ppd file for the printer is identical to

http://www.linuxprinting.org/foomatic-db/db/source/PPD/HP/mono_laser/HP_LaserJet_1320_Series.ppd

If I use the HP-LaserJet_1320-hpijs.ppd (can be downloaded from

http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_1320)

printing is ok (no need to push the green button) but the functionality of this ppd is extremely restricted.

So apparently it is a problem with the ppd file. Unfortunately, installing the printer software in WinXP did not produce any ppd files (the printer works ok in winxp)...

A similar problem was discussed at

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=158083&highlight=laserjet+1320+dapper

but no solutions proposed...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
