I may have found my problem, since its all thats left in a seemingly
exhausted list of remedies.

My last error log file reads...

debian:/home/daryl# tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log

One line states... 'Unable to convert file 0 to printable format forjob 23!'
According to the 'Error Log FAQ's' at...
http://www.linuxprinting.org/error_log-faq.html#q_3_12

...this is caused by not having the pstoraster filter included in ESP
GhostScript, or not having applied the GhostScript patches in the
pstoraster directory of the GNU GhostScript sources. You need to install
ESP GhostScript or the patch starting with CUPS 1.1.15.
It may also be necessary to compile ESP GhostScript against your current
version of CUPS.

The individual packages in 'CUPS' are v.1.1.23...

ii libcupsys2-dev 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) -
developmen
ii libcupsys2-gnu 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - libs
ii libgnomecups1. 0.1.14-1 GNOME library for CUPS interaction
ii libgnomecupsui 0.25-2.1 UI extensions to libgnomecups
debian:/home/daryl# dpkg -l | grep cups
ii cupsys 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - server
ii cupsys-bsd 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - BSD
comman
ii cupsys-client 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) -
client pro
ii gnome-cups-man 0.25-2.1 CUPS printer admin tool for GNOME
ii libcupsimage2 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) -
image libs
ii libcupsimage2- 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) -
image deve
ii libcupsys2 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) -
dummy libs
ii libcupsys2-dev 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) -
developmen
ii libcupsys2-gnu 1.1.23-10sarge Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - libs
ii libgnomecups1. 0.1.14-1 GNOME library for CUPS interaction
ii libgnomecupsui 0.25-2.1

So, I think I need the GhostScript Patch.

The line from my log... It may also be necessary to compile ESP
GhostScript against your current version of CUPS ...I don't understand
this, but first things first.

Now I have to go look for the patch and find out how to install it.

Daryl...
