Hi, I've been trying to make this work in order to use my hp 3550 for 6 months, and it's hopeless. Most version does not even compile, exept if you build them for i386.
I've been lokking for most of the website that deals with this problem, and nobody has a solution : everywhere, on all the forums, I can just see that it does not work, and that nobody has found any solution (and some posts are from year 2004). It works with beta version of some distribution, including debian testing, but on debian stable, either with a home-compiled version or with the official debian package, hp-info say this : Using device: hp:/usb/hp_color_LaserJet_3550?serial=00CNCR529842 [ERROR]: Unable to communicate with device: hp:/usb/hp_color_LaserJet_3550?serial=00CNCR529842 [ERROR]: Error opening device (Device not found). Exiting. I hope this will help you in develloping hplip. In the next versions, can you please make a verbose mode so that we'll have more clue about where this comes from?
