Set LogLevel to debug in /etc/cupsd.conf (or the equivalent cups config
file), restart cups (/etc/init.d/cups restart)
Print the test page again and check the cups log file
(/var/log/cups/error_log)
Also, check your printer configuration page, perhaps you have it set to
grayscale with black cartridge and black cartridge
is empty or close to it?

Subject: [Hplip-help] HP PSC 1410 Test page print problem

Hi there,

I've searched around for my problem, the closest I've found is a post by
Jyri Turkia on 2006-07-10 23:18:20 , titled "HP PSC 1410 won't print".

Similar problem, I've had setup the print numerously, and this last
time, I am very sure I got the installation right. hp-setup ran fine,
hp-toolbox shows the info about the printer BUT the test page just
wouldn't print. KDE shows vaguely 'Error', with job-state='0x6'.

Possibilites:
1. It is shown in toolbox, Code: 1501 black print cartridge is low on
ink. Still, shouldn't still print? (just assuming) 2. :) I just don't
know.

My log for /var/log/messages when I print is empty.
My system is a converted knoppix to debian.

Thanks.

The output:
