To Whom It May Concern: Hi, my name is Justin; and after upgrading from
Ubuntu Dapper Drake to Ubuntu Edgy Eft I lost scanning for xsane. I would
greatly appreciate help with getting my scanning to work again, as it is no
longer a choice for me to use Windows XP as ATI has chosen not to support my
ATI PCI TV Wonder Pro with Remote Control edititon. They basically said after
trying what they suggested; there was nothing they could do for me. I couldn’t
watch cable channel 5 on Windows, and as soon as I used Ubuntu Linux; my cable
channel 5 just magically came back. ATI even thought my card was defective and
wanted me to send it in to them for another; well I knew that wasn’t the
case especially after using linux to view cable channel 5. I have tried using
hp-setup in a multitude of ways, like: Sudo hp-setup –bus: par –printer= PSC-500
/dev/lp0 Sudo hp-setup –bus: cups –printer= PSC-500
/dev/lp0 Sudo hp-setup –printer= PSC-500 /dev/lp0 Sudo hp-setup –a /dev/lp0 Sudo hp-setup –bus: par –printer= PSC-500 MYJ12E0SYK Sudo hp-seutp –bus: cups –printer= PSC-500
MYJ12E0SYK Sudo hp-setup MYJ12E0SYK I have checked, and yes lp0 does exist under /dev I am really lost as to what else to do; other than a fresh
install of Ubuntu Edgy Eft which I really don’t want to do and feel I shouldn’t
have to do; and no offence to you guys at HP because at least you have the guts
to support your hardware on linux, and now even sell PC’s with linux
which is EXCELLENT!! My hp-setup version is: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/sane.d$ ls abaton.conf dll.d microtek2.conf

have tried asking on irc.freenode.net channel #ubuntu either nobody knew how to
solve this issue or nobody cared to help. I am willing to work with you with
any info that you need that I have not supplied. I will patiently be waiting
to hear back from you hopefully soon. Thanks allot for your time; and am
looking forward to hearing a positive response. Thanks again, Justin |
