It works now :-) It looks like the SlackBuild (script to build slackware package) for hplip changed. It is now necessary to specify that we want to enable the net-snmp support. Didn't see that change. Moreover, it's important not to forget to restart the hplip service with /etc/rc.d/rc.hplip restart to use the new version.
I think it would be easy to support officialy slackware distributions. There is now an official package for hplip for slackware. It is still in the testing directory but it should soon replace the old hpijs package. The package is here: ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/slackware-current/testing/packages/hplip-1.6.9-i486-1.tgz It's not compiled with net-snmp support, but it easy to rebuild the package, by getting the SlackBuild here ftp://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/slackware-current/testing/source/hplip and setting the variable SNMP to yes. Thanks for your help.
