Hi,

I've been using my scanner in the past on SuSE 10.1, and for some reason
it doesn't work now. It is important to note that the printer works
though CUPS and continues to do so even though the scanner doesn't.

When I looked at my scanner configuration in YaST, it said that there
wasn't any scanner recognized by the hpaio driver. Running lsusb shows
my scanner in the list:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 006: ID 03f0:3a11 Hewlett-Packard
Bus 003 Device 005: ID 041e:4036 Creative Technology, Ltd Webcam
Live!/Live! Pro
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 045e:0039 Microsoft Corp. IntelliMouse Optical
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 0451:2046 Texas Instruments, Inc. TUSB2046 Hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

My /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp output is as follows:

unable to open /var/run/hpssd.port: No such file or directory:
prnt/hpijs/hplip_api.c 94
unable to connect hpssd socket 50002: Connection refused:

"MFG:HP;MDL:officejet 5500 series;CLS:PRINTER;DES:officejet 5500

Here is my hp-check output:
