Here is another observation or two.

I was able to modify with an editor the
file $HOME/hpfax/fab.db
to add the characters needed to turn off
caller ID.  However, it would be nice to
have the front end stuff accept these
characters to help others.

It would be nice to be able to name the location
or filename that stores the hp configuration info.
For example: have the directory hpfax be .hpfax
or located where the user wishes. 

I am assuming that the menu choices for copying
is still being worked on since that choice
is grayed out.  What would really be a nice
option would be to make a copy by scanning in
on the HP scanner but direct the copy output
to the printer of my choice.  For example my
HP laser printer.
