Hi,

I reacently bought a HP c4180, and I downloaded hplip-1.7.2

Due to my Slackware 11.0 I wasn't able to run the default install
program, so I did a manual install. I got some dependency troubles, but
I was able to overcome that by disabling the unneeded functions. After
unpacking the tar.gz, I ran:

./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-fax-build --disable-network-build
make
make install
make clean
/etc/init.d/hplip restart
/etc/init.d/cups restart

And everything worked fine :D

But, after reboot I had to run /etc/init.d/hplip restart and
/etc/init.d/cups restart again. It worked fine after that again. But it
seemed not to load at boottime. I opened up /etc/rc.d/rc.M and found the
bootscript was looking for /etc/rc.d/rc.hplip in vein.

After a system search I found there was no rc.hplip anywhere. So I was
wondering. Did I do something wrong? Should I point the rc.M to
/etc/init.d/hplip (start or restart?), or should I do something
different altogether?

I tried reinstalling the driver, but that didn't make a difference.

I thank you kindly for reading my question, and hope you can provide me
with an answer that sets me back on track. Thanks in advance

Best regards,
Wybrand Lohman
