The easiest way out of this is to manually install LSB before running the
installer. This is an issue that we are working on, and we should have a
solution in an upcoming release..

So,1st run:

$ sudo apt-get install lsb

and then re-run the installer. Its should skip the problem step.

The download was from the SourceForge web site; the version of Linux being
used is Kubuntu V7.04.
The download is for the installation package named: HPLIP-1.7.4.run.

- While I don't see any hardware implications, the system form is a
generic
PC, Intel P4 3.00 Ghz CPU, 1 GB RAM, onboard graphics, two 80GB P-ATA 100
hard disk drives, two optical drives – DVD +-RW, DVD-ROM, and a 3.5
inch 1.44 MB Floppy disk drive. P/S is 430 Watt Antec.
- I have seen no other error messages nor problems with the installation
until reaching this Postfix module.
- Installation as would be expected until the system begins the following
commands:

Running 'sudo dpkg --configure -a'
Please wait, this may take several minutes...
Running 'sudo apt-get install --yes --force-yes -f '
Please wait, this may take several minutes...

Running 'sudo apt-get update'

Running 'xterm -e sudo apt-get install --yes --force-yes postfix'
Please wait, this may take several minutes...

- A new window opens, labeled "SUDO"
- In this window, which is shown to be "SUDO", there is a window
which reads: "Package Configuration"
Within this window is a 3-4 paragraph explanation of options for
"Postfix Configuration."
Note: None of the normal scrolling can be used, nor are options for
manipulating the contents of this window available with the right mouse
button. Only a Page UP or Page DOWN keyboard command seems to work.
Clicking on the "<OK>" at the bottom of each of the pages does
nothing.

At this point, the entire process stalls! Closing this SUDO window, just
returns to the installation screen with its revolving cursor. Even after a
significant time – NO FURTHER INSTALLATION appears to take place,
thereby rendering the entire effort null and void.

Please note that I am an experienced user with some 30 years of working
with
the microcomputer systems; however, I can only classify my status in the
realm of Linux as an operating system and its applications – in the
neophyte category.
