Don, I've been running hp-setup, but without success. Today I tried a different tactic, with partial success. I let hp-setup try to find both printers. It found only the 2500C, so I went on and finished installing that one. Then, just for giggles, I restarted CUPS. Re-invoking hp-setup and telling it the IP address of the LJ5 allowed it to find it. However, it found the 5M rather than the plain 5, and recommended the PostScript version of the driver rather than the foomatic version. I accepted that default, and the widget told me the printer was off-line, busy, or otherwise not responsive. That's not the case. But, when I tried again, hp-setup failed and left this message on the virtual console: error: Printer queue setup failed. Please restart CUPS and try again. error: Unsupported model: HP_LaserJet_5M error: Printer Error.Printer is busy, offline, or in an error state. Please check the device and try again. I wondered about this when I checked the list of supported devices. It seems that every variation of the LJ 5 is there, but not that model itself. CUPS, of course, had no problems with these. So, one down and the more important of the two printers still to be installed in HPLIP. What do you suggest I do now? Thanks, Rich -- Richard B.
