I just returned home and tried
hp-makeuri 192.168.1.50
and the device was not found

I went to the cups web page on this computer and the device is there
with this IP addr.
Here is the information CUPS provides
Description: hp 7310 network attached
Location: South Salem
Make and Model: HP OfficeJet 7300 Foomatic/hpijs (recommended)
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs, published.
Device URI: socket://192.168.1.50
Any help would be appreciated.
