(Originally posted to the Linux foundation forum for HP/Apollo printers; but I later realised this forum is probably more appropriate for my query since it specifically concerns hplip.)
My printer is an HP Officejet 5610 All-in-one I'm running 2.6.22-gentoo-r5. USB Printer support is compiled into the kernel I'm following the instructions for a manual build, here: http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install/manual/distros/gentoo.html I ran into problems with hp-check: ========== localhost linux # hp-check -t HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 2.7.7) Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 10.0 Copyright (c) 2001-7 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. "Fax queue setup failed. Please restart CUPS and try again." I restarted CUPS and tried again several times, but no good. I've searched the web and this forum, but haven't found the solution. I used to use HPLIP v1.7.4, but had problems getting scanning to work, so I thought I might have better luck if I switched to the latest version. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
