Dear Amit I am a FreeBSD user and to me this looks like classical permission problem. You must give permissions to common users to access the device. I could fix this by editing /etc/devfs.conf files on FreeBSD.
As I have no clue about Linux although I have Debian box in my office (maintained by sys admin of course) and I have never seen SuSE box in my life I am not sure how much my comment can help you.
