All the deskjets I'm familiar with will go off-line (idle) automatically after a set amount of unused time. This is a power-save mode, but HPLIP does not expose any user function for this option.
At the beginning of a print job, if the printer is "idle" HPLIP will automatically perform a power-up command before we send the print job. HPLIP will detect this "idle" state by reading the printer's device-id. I believe most inkjets will turn the power led off when "idle". -dave > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf > Of Robert Anderson > Sent: Friday, October 05, 2007 7:06 PM > To: hplip-help@lists.sourceforge.net > Subject: [Hplip-help] Auto-off (low-power) mode > > My distro: Ubuntu 7.10 beta 1 > > My printer: Deskjet 6988 > > This printer has an auto-off (low power) mode.
