CRAWL SPACE WILL BE CLOSING ITS GATE FOR GOOD...
After six years of curating and producing exhibitions, talks and special programs, the individual artists who run Crawl Space Gallery have decided to disband in order to pursue independent interests. Crawl Space will therefore cease to exist following our final and most ambitious show to date, Stranger Circumstances, opening on November 7th, 2009. Thank you for your support. We hope you will join us for one last celebration on November 7th at 6pm. Crawl Space is a nonprofit exhibition space that incites community interest in the visual arts by engaging in critical discussion surrounding art. Through exhibitions, public forums, publications, and experimental projects organized by a dedicated artist board, we challenge early career artists to develop informed and influential new work. Since opening our doors in 2003, Crawl Space has presented new works by more than 200 artists, at no charge to a public audience of over 5,000. The Shunpike provides our nonprofit sponsorship.

The Shunpike's mission is to strengthen the Seattle arts community by partnering with small and mid-size arts groups to develop the business tools they need to succeed. It was founded in 2001 to support a vibrant and diverse local arts community where arts groups of all sizes could thrive. We believe that efficient use of resources and smart management can help arts groups do what they do best – now and in the long-term. Working in close partnership with these groups, we help solve problems quickly and impart vital skills in finance, organizational management and arts administration. Since our inception, we have supported work by more than 1,000 artists in live performance, film, literary arts, visual arts, and arts education. |
