Three years in the works, Wayne Horvitz's 55: Music and Dance in Concrete - with
Yukio Suzuki, Yohei Saito, and Tucker Martine - premieres this week.
A shifting site-specific multimedia performance featuring dance, video and sound
installation, "55" will be presented in Seattle, Port Townsend, and Phoenix.
Performances
and associated events will highlight different aspects of the work. Each
performance
will be completely unique based on its location. As the piece transforms from
space to space, augmented by varying treatments, it is grounded by a single
piece
of electronic music that Horvitz created with Martine in the darkened crevices
and underground chambers of 115 year old Fort Worden, which once guarded
nautical
entrance to Puget Sound.

Centrum's Reverberations Series
The audio & video portions of the installation, created by Wayne Horvitz and

Saito, will be open to the public from 11-6. You are encouraged to explore the
dark
bunkers where the piece is featured, freely throughout that time. Half-hour
dance
performances, featuring Yukio Suzuki / Kingyo, will activate the fort 3 times
each
day.
