*Job Description:*
Primary responsibility includes production support and maintenance of
existing custom internal applications. This includes designing, developing
and implementing minor enhancements for sales, marketing, and inventory
control, using .Net framework, MS Access and SQL databases.
Assist with custom interface implementations for COTS integrations.
Contribute to development standards, best practices, policies and
procedures as well as adherence.
Solicit and document software requirements.
Run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for
the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and
general debugging.
Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to
problem areas.
Generate statistics and prepare and write reports for management and/or
team members on the status of the programming process.
Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals, guidelines,
knowledge bases and team documentation.

*Education/Experience:*
B.S. in CIS with 5 + Years in a software development role
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and
practices, including Tables, Views, Triggers, Stored Procedures, and
troubleshooting.
Extensive experience developing in *Microsoft Access* with a *SQL* *Server*
backend.
Knowledge of SQL Server 2005 and 2008. Ability to write T-SQL scripts to
support database maintenance, creating databases, database objects, users,
roles etc.
Able to maintain and support production systems, including some off hours
and weekend support as required (on call).
Develop projects in *.NET* framework using C#, ASP.NET <http://asp.net/>,
*HTML*, CSS with VB experience a plus using Visual Studio 2008/2010 and OOP
practices.
Experience with Web Services, specifically: SOAP, XML & WCF.
Knowledge in the following applications and processes is also a plus: SSRS,
JavaScript, Silver Light, PHP, SVN, IIS Administration, LAMP, and/or Pri

*Position: Senior Java Developer*
*Location: Wilmington, DE - Locals ONLY*
*Duration: 1-2 years*

*Onsite Interview is required.*

*Job Functions:*
Work with other members of the development team, Application Services and
business owners to research and resolve production incidents.
Assess production incidents and provide technical approach recommendations
based on technical specifications from incident details and business
requirements.
Code and test software to retain logical stability, reliability,
confidentiality, and integrity in accordance with Capital One 360’s
policies, procedures and guidelines
Ensure code is within acceptable defect tolerance of design specifications
and take appropriate actions for all violations
Review the work of other developers and provide guidance and input based on
best practices.
Properly track progress, effort, issues and resolutions.
Communicate and document status to leadership and members of Java community.
Work with IT and business test groups to support quality and acceptance
tests.

*Non-Project and Cross-Project Functions:*
Mentor others in general technical skills as well as Capital One 360’s
applications and processes.
Provide input into general architectural decisions and design stability.
Provide input to assist in team and project process improvement.
Consistently exercises discretion and judgment.

*Experience, Qualifications and Technical Skills and Abilities:*
5+ years work experience developing applications a must.
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge of and experience in:
*Java, J2EE design patterns, Web content presentation methods (HTML, XSL,
etc.), JDBC and SQL, SOAPUI, Spring Framework including Spring MVC, Spring
Batch, and Spring Integration, Webservices, CSS, JavaScript*
*Additional experience should include Windows desktop and server
applications (such as MS Office and SQL Server), some Unix, and basic
hardware systems*.
Solid interpersonal skills.
Ability to communication clearly in written and verbal form.
Exceptional problem solving and debugging abilities.
Have to be OK with doing production support only – absolutely no new
development.

*Working Conditions:*
Flexibility with respect to hours.
Occasional late/weekend hours to meet development deadlines.
Occasional off-hours deployment support work

*Physical/Mental Requirements:*
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
Must be able to work on a computer terminal & use a telephone for extended
periods of time.
