*Location : * ** *Des Moines, IA* *Duration : 6 - 12 months* ** ** *Project and Responsibilities:* Encirca R&D Client is aggressively building Big Data and Predictive Analytics capabilities in order to deliver improved services to our customers. Client is seeking a Data Engineer to analyze, design, develop, and implement well tested and high quality data solutions for new or existing projects, as well as applications within an Agile environment. The Data Engineer will collaborate daily with data scientists and analysts in a team setting as well as 3rd party data providers to drive best practices and identify innovative strategies for successful data product delivery. The successful candidate will be a creative problem solver who is equally comfortable developing code, performing ETL processes, and deploying cloud infrastructure at scale to facilitate data analysis over multiple TBs of data. We are interested in self-starters who can pick up our technology stack and actively seek ways to provide value to their team and our business. *Job Duties & Responsibilities* Work with a project manager, data modeling team, and subject matter experts to design and develop data applications and data processing pipelines to meet business needs. Work with data modeling team with a focus on data collection and data processing pipeline development in a Linux environment to support model-based recommendations via web services. Receive guidance and oversight from a senior engineer. Communicate plans to develop data applications and data processing pipelines to data scientists, project managers and subject matter experts. Assist in the identification and classification of datasets with potential to address data scientist needs. *Educational Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 4+ years of software development experience or equivalent overall work experience required. Skills / Experience: *Required Skills:* Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to implement robust and effective data solutions in python Experience and skills in multiple facets of software engineering including web service and command line application development, source control, continuous integration, and automated deployment *Experience in the following technologies is required:* Scientific Python, including numpy, scipy, pandas, and matplotlib At least one general purpose object-oriented *programming language* * :* PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, or another true RDBMS Redis, CouchDB, Cassandra, HBase, Hive, MongoDB, Neo4j or other NoSQL databases Development via SSH sessions and proficiency in using SSH for management of remote resources Development in a headless Linux or BSD environment Strong proficiency of Unix userland tools Development and deployment of Infrastructure and/or Platform as a Service architecture on AWS or another cloud service provider Amenable to working independently and as a team member (3 - 8+ members) depending on project requirements *Preferred Skills:* Experience in systems architecture and design, infrastructure setup and administration, and analytical systems development Ability to learn quickly and an interest in using distributed computing to solve complex problems using modern technologies.
