*MiddleWare Engineer* *Duration – 1 year * *Location – Columbus, OH* This resource will work with application and infrastructure architects, solution engineers, application programmers and project managers to support RFS projects using various technologies Provide day to day support of all assigned RFS/Project work. This includes all new infrastructure build-outs as well as pre-production performance testing. He will also act as a level 3 support person for Middleware Run teams. His work effort is in support of all lines of business. Work with our internal teams (application programmers, applications and infrastructure architects, project managers and solutions engineers) to support RFS projects assigned from various LOB’s as well as completing tasks as needed in support of I&O Infrastructure. This RFS work consists of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting application servers (Websphere, Weblogic, JBoss, Tomcat, MQ, IIB, IIS, etc.) and web servers (IHS, Apache). Often the troubleshooting is in collaboration with other teams so frequent coordination and communication is key to a successful mitigation of issues. Major responsibilities include installation and support for all environments such as Testing (IT), Staging (ST), Performance Tuning (PT) and also Production (Prod). Systems Engineers participate in a wide range of analysis, design, development and solution implementation. Systems Engineers implement solutions and make modifications and enhancements to existing hardware/software applications or a suite of integrated systems for Nationwide. Systems Engineers identify and define new hardware/software technologies to fit specialized business needs and configurations. With full competency, designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements complex hardware/software components, tools, and utilities required for the operation, maintenance, and control of systems. Coordinates with users to determine requirements. Reviews systems under development and related documentation. Makes complex modifications to existing hardware/software to fit specialized needs and configurations, and maintains program libraries and technical documentation. May coordinate activities of the project team and assist in monitoring project schedules and costs. Acts as a formal and/or informal mentor to less experienced associates.
