Offhand, I don't know why this would be needed for KDE or Mandrake users
in general. I'm assuming you reported it to the Mandrake and/or KDE bug
databases? It sounds like it was installed for a particular purpose, but
the configuration was not set for this. (Perhaps it was intended to index
local documentation or something like this.)

Yes--we are aware of this issue. The latest beta code for 3.2 ignores
empty databases or will throw up a message to that effect.
