The 0.23 version builds for me on Redhat 6.2, 7.1 & SPARC/Solaris 2.6.
I've made the CVS head (I think it's 0.24) build with small problems on
Redhat 6.2 (configure couldn't sort out strncasecmp, and there was an
obvious typo in the code that needed fixing). I'm not sure if the problem
is with the new version of configure, or the setup of the test machine was
broken, or something else. Once I fixed the generated config files it
built OK. I had a quick go at sticking mifluz as a separate library onto
the 3.2 snapshot a few weeks ago, and it wasn't that interested in working
(which I suppose I could have worked out if I'd thought about it), and I
had another bash at upgrading the individual components of htdig with
those from mifluz, but got sidetracked onto revenue-generating work and
haven't got back into it.

Subject: [htdig-dev] Re: mifluz merge
Some of you are probably wondering why the mifluz merge doesn't seem
to be progressing. There are a few reasons for this. First off, after
some experimentation, it seems like the current mifluz CVS code
doesn't build...
There's also the small problem that the latest released version isn't
particularly cross-platform.
Here's how you can help the effort.
Download mifluz from <ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mifluz/mifluz-0.23.0.tar.gz>
Try to ./configure; make
Let me know if that's successful. In particular, I'm looking to find
out what platforms have problems because ./configure dies with
complaints about iconv.h. (These are platforms where we'll have to
build a replacement.)
Failures:
* Mac OS X 10.1.2
Success:
* RedHat 7.2
