Your conf file may not have changed, but does it rely on a different file
to load the value of start_url? E.g.:
start_url: `${common_dir}/start.url`
If so, that may account for the behaviour you've seen. In any case,
htdig does seem to be reacting to an invalid URL somewhere, either in
your start_url setting or an URL it picked up from a link in one of your
documents. Try htdig -vvvv to get to the bottom of it.
