Well, my first hunch would be to say you have a corrupted database,
and certainly running out of hard disk space could lead to a corrupted
database.  As a rule of thumb, you should allow more free space than
the total size of your database.

If you get no results even for the full word "architektur", and you're
sure the documents that contain that word are being indexed, then
somewhere along the line the word is being lost.  This isn't just a
problem with the substring algorithm.  I don't know how you update your
database, but if you do incremental updates rather than rebuilding from
scratch each time, it would be a good idea to try reindexing from scratch
(i.e. running "rundig").

If you regularly rebuild from scratch, and you have adequate free space,
then it may be that the documents you want are no longer being indexed.
Are you sure they're still linked, either directly or indirectly, from
the document(s) in your start_url, by plain HTML hypertext links?
