Sorry I didn't inform you, while personally messaging with Gilles Detilleux I
solved the problem.

I was using locale tr_TR for htdig to index Turkish documents correctly. This
was causing the uppercasing process to come up with a turkish-only character.
That was why I was unable to use the variable on the results page.
