well, i am not that much of a coder- at least not for C/C++, so will
probably put this on the back burner.
Plus, I just applied the fileSpace.1 patch that handled it for me...

I agree with you.
The main reason I want this functionality is that staff here at work will not
care about "standards" just what is convenient. They may want to
upload documents to our web sites that contain spaces in the filenames
and I will have to work within that framework. I will educate them but it is
an uphill battle. It is a pity really.
