Title: On-and-off functionality
Hi everyone,

I'm running htsearch from the web interface with odd results. About 1 of every 5 times it produces results that indicate the indexing process, including htdig and htfuzzy, is complete. That is, it runs as you would expect it to. I get the right results and all is grand.

The other 4 of 5 times I get this error:

"Unable to read word database file '/var/lib/htdig/db.words.db'
Did you run htdig?"

The confusing part is that I'm not making any changes between instances of htdig working and not working.

Anyone have any idea what this is? A memory issue?

Thanks!

Also, for others who may have had the first problem I encountered with htdig: I received an "Unable to establish connection" server response running Rundig. The problem turned out to be  htdig's interaction with the  load-balancer.  When htdig tries to contact www.thonion.com, it refers to the nameservers for the name resolution.  The nameservers then respond back with  the public IP address of www.theonion.com's VIP.  At this point, htdig tries to establish a connection to that IP address.  The problem is that the load balancer will only accept connections to that public VIP from traffic that comes from in front of the load balancer, not behind it.

I solved the problem by adding an entry in the "hosts" file that pointed www.theonion.com to the private IP address of the apache server that was serving information to htdig.
