Your patch is fine - with one oversight: one reason I changed ssl.9
was that I wanted to see an SSL error message instead of "Unable
to establish the connection ..." (besides having it run with 0.9.6g).

Over the last weekend (also bugged by your mail) I have backported my
SSL changes from the VMS version to a plain 3.1.6. But I missed to take
the diskette with me <sigh>.

I'll post again tomorrow - with the patch. Sorry for being so late.
