I did a few tests and it seems to depend on the order that the config files are placed in the call to htsearch does this make sense?? if so do you know what order I should put them in to give the most accurate results?
I've got over 8GB indexed already and I'm not even have the way thru the DB yet :-( So I am trying to use the date ranges to limit the number of configs passed to htsearch my configs are arranged by year (and month in some cases) thanks Sean -----Original Message----- From: Gilles Detillieux [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, November 28, 2002 3:51 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: ht://Dig mailing list Subject: Re: [htdig] PATCH - collections for 3.1.6 (was: HTMerge /mifluz) According to Sean Downey: > The patch is working grand - thanks again > > the only thing is that I'm getting strange results some times > > For 2 different searches for the same keywords > > 1. here are the configs for Jan 1st 2000 to Nov 28th 2002 > i_i_01_12|i_i_01_11|i_i_01_10|i_i_01_09|i_i_01_08|i_i_01_07|i_i_01_06|i_i_01 > _05|i_i_01_04|i_i_01_03|i_i_01_02|i_i_01_01|a_c_02|m_n_02|i_i_02_11|i_i_02_1 > 0|i_i_02_09|i_i_02_08|i_i_02_07|i_i_02_06|i_i_02_05|i_i_02_04|i_i_02_03|i_i_ > 02_02|i_i_02_01|a_c_01|m_n_01|a_c_00|m_n_00 > Your search for 'bertie ahern' returned 3346 match(es) in 2.9289 seconds. > > > 2. but for Jan 1st 2001 to Nov 28th 2002 > i_i_01_12|i_i_01_11|i_i_01_10|i_i_01_09|i_i_01_08|i_i_01_07|i_i_01_06|i_i_01 > _05|i_i_01_04|i_i_01_03|i_i_01_02|i_i_01_01|a_c_02|m_n_02|i_i_02_11|i_i_02_1 > 0|i_i_02_09|i_i_02_08|i_i_02_07|i_i_02_06|i_i_02_05|i_i_02_04|i_i_02_03|i_i_ > 02_02|i_i_02_01|a_c_01|m_n_01 > Your search for 'bertie ahern' returned 6949 match(es) 8.8197 seconds. > > > as you can see the top search has 2 extra config files but it returns 2246 > matches compared to 6949 in the second search > > can ye think of anything that would explain this?? Any restrict or exclude attribute definitions or search_rewrite_rules in the last two config files? That's all I can think of right offhand. > -----Original Message----- > From: Jim Cole [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Saturday, November 16, 2002 3:49 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Cc: Gilles Detillieux; ht://Dig mailing list > Subject: Re: [htdig] PATCH - collections for 3.1.6 (was: HTMerge > /mifluz) > > > On Friday, November 15, 2002, at 03:56 AM, Sean Downey wrote: > > >> All I can think to add is that you can try running htsearch as above, > >> but with just one of the config=... definitions at a time.
