It sounds as though you havn't properly configured doc2html, "UNABLE to convert" means it has failed to find a converter for PDF files. The steps include: Install xpdf and check that pdftotext and pdfinfo work from the command line Configure pdf2html.pl to use pdftotext and pdfinfo and check that it works from the command line Configure doc2html.pl to use pdf2html.pl and check that it works from the command line: doc2html.pl filename "application/pdf" url David Adams University of Southampton ----- Original Message ----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, January 24, 2003 7:38 PM Subject: [htdig] htdig and PDF question I have htdig installed and it is working great for html file. I am trying to get PDF files working. I downloaded the doc2html files and added the external parser statement to the htdig.conf file. When I run "rundig" I get a lot of UNABLE to convert messages. Also htnotify has always aborted (even before attempting to index pdf files). Here is some of the output from rundig: ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert ! UNABLE to convert /usr/bin/rundig: line 37: 5354 Segmentation fault $BINDIR/htpurge $opts $alt /usr/bin/rundig: line 48: 5355 Aborted $BINDIR/htnotify $opts /usr/bin/rundig: line 81: 5362 Segmentation fault /usr/bin/htfuzzy $verbose metaphone /usr/bin/rundig: line 82: 5363 Segmentation fault /usr/bin/htfuzzy $verbose soundex I'll attach my htdig.conf file, I didn't modify the doc2html.cfg file. Any advice or documentation you can refer me to would be greatly appreciated.
