I just did a very simple test. I created a test index directory, and
moved all the old databases to another area, and ran rundig. The databases are searchable for the one
page I threw in. the
only difference is that I ran rundig as root instead
of my username. Please tell me that
this might not be the problem with the huge databases I created last week..or if it is, if there is
some other way around this problem.
The permissions for all databases were set to a+r. Thanks in advance! Abbie ////////////////////////////////////////// Previous email Help! I just got
done indexing a huge list of files …well over 26000, totaling more than 3G The databases
created total 2.3G. Finally after a
week of running it’s finally stopped and all looks good. I tried to do
some searches this morning and it is finding no matches (ahhh). I’ve had htdig
working before on a smaller set of files.
I ran rundig to index these files. The only changes I made to the htdig.conf file were 1) change the start_url,
2) change excerpt size, 3) change max file size 4) added start/end highlighting. I’m using the default htdig search html as well, with no restrict or exclude
variables. (they are set to “”). Any help would truly be appreciated. One last thing…I’ve found documentation for
indexing with v 3.1.* but I can’t find too much with 3.2.0b4 … I
have found that you don’t have to run htmerge
after you run htdig, is that correct? Just wondering the sequence to run
… (htdig, htpurge…etc)
when I don’t want to index from scratch…as a week is quite along
time to run. Thanks! Abbie |
