But my problem now is that i would like a script html/cgi/perl or php to use directly in my site.
The main search interface is a CGI application written in C++ and called 'htsearch'. It should be in the cgi-bin directory.
If you have a web server such as Apache, you can put the 'htsearch' application in the cgi-bin directory (or in another directory with the execution permission in Apache) and then use the default templates in HTML.
I suggest you to have a look at the 'configure' options for a more straight-forward installation: http://www.htdig.org/dev/htdig-3.2/install.html#configure
or just type 'configure --help'.
You might find useful: --with-cgi-bin-dir=DIR --with-image-dir=DIR --with-image-url-prefix=LOCATION --with-search-dir=FILE --with-search-form=FILE
htsearch can be called via URL if it is in a directory where scripts execution is allowed. Also, any CGI runs as the user which the web server run as; so be careful when setting the permissions in the /opt/htdig dirs. If they are root's, I doubt htsearch can run (and log) unless your web server runs as root (which I hope not!). Usually, if htsearch encounters some permission problems, the "500 internal server error" comes up.
So, put htsearch in the CGI directory, than anywhere else, accessible via the Web (so in the document root of the Web server) place the images and the main search.html form.
Have you a system or an easy simple (i'm a newbie) guide link to make my search external to the user of my site ? I would like a search engine for all user of my site. What is the system to put HTDIG search directly in my site. Can i access to HTdig only such as root in my server ? In intranet ? I think not. But where is the script to use it in my site. Where is search.pl (or search.cgi or search.php or search.html) to copy in a directory accessible by external people in my site ?
Just use htsearch. You may find also useful information on some contributed guides that fellas around the world have donated to the community about how to install and configure ht://Dig. Please have a look here: http://www.htdig.org/contrib/guides.html
I am sorry Ulisse but I have never tried ConfigDig so I am not able to give you an useful answer. Please, if you want write me in italian privately (I am coming back to Italy this week-end).
Sorry, gotta go now. Keep us posted!
Ciao ciao
