You might want to take a look at htfuzzy and the search_algorithm
attribute (http://www.htdig.org/attrs.html#search_algorithm). This
approach doesn't explicitly suggestion other words, but it does
provide the ability to automatically include in the query a number
of alternatives and mutations of the provided search terms.
