Graeme: Well, actually I never really went back and fixed this one � I use a much simpler mechanism (logfiles via cron) to keep track of whether the system is working alll right. I think that htnotify is particularly useful if you are using Htdig to figure out which pages need to be updated, which I don't have a need to do, so I have been fine without it.
Along the way at one point I did use the rundig.sh script or the 3.2 version of it to execute htdig and this actually did work fine and was able to send emails to me with the execution results. So you could probably try that I can't remember why I stopped - I think it was that I didn't want it to start from scratch every day but just run incrementally, so I just went back to rundig with htnotify commented out.
