From the HT DIG > website I understand that the ampersand, &, presents search problems > and in fact Search "M&A" returns no matches. Is there a simple solution > to this problem? You have two problems: 1) including "&" in indexed words. Easily achieved: 1.1) remove it from the valid_punctuation config attribute; 1.2) add it to the extra_word_characters attribute 2) the (deprecated) special use of "&" in forms submitted with method="GET". Try setting your cgi-bin directory to allow POST and changing the method declaration in your form - see http://www.htdig.org/mail/2000/09/0410.html If that fails, my next thought would be to have javascript rewrite the words field to replace "&" with "%26" on submission. Other and better thoughts may be available. Mike ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by Black Hat Briefings & Training.
