Hi,

using Htdig 3.1.6 I ran into a problem.

My site includes various words like "ldg-s" or "ldg-a" ans such and these
are product types, people do naturaly also search for these words including
the hyphen.

Now it seems for instance "ldg-s" gets included into thtdig's wordlist as
"ldgs" butt funny enough even searching for "ldgs" does not reveal any
results - whereas searching for "ldg s" does bring results but noone would
search like this (replacing a hyphen with a space).

My assumption on how to fix this was to include:
     extra_word_characters: -
into my configuration but it didn't seem to work.
Is there any way how I can make searching for words with hyphens possible in
3.1.6?

Thanks!

You probably need to take '-' off valid_punctuation in your conf file.

I tried already, but even that didn't seem to work for me.

Did anyone on this list get this to work reliably?

The combination of adding '-' to extra_word_characters and removing it from valid_punctuation does work for the case you are describing. Are you sure that your databases have been rebuilt since you changed the attributes? If so, you might want to double check their settings, spelling, etc.
