It is possible to use ht://Dig for searching Mailman archives; however you might want to check the Mailman site before investing too much more effort. There is someone that maintains a set of patches to more cleanly integrate ht://Dig with Mailman. I don't recall the details, but you could probably track down the information you need by checking the Mailman list archives, or perhaps their FAQ.
