Hello! I have little experience with runnig windows webserver, but i hope i can help anyway.
You are writing that it worked five days ago but not anymore. I would guess that someone has changed the webserver settings in some way. maybee just a windows update, some critical patch from microsoft that just happens to change the webserver behaviour. I would talk to the technichans in charge of running the webserver and ask them to undo all changes made the past 5 days. If they are professionals they log every change made to the computer, and the computer setting, so that should not be a problem. Then together with them apply all changes, step by step to trace what change made htdig to stop working. As always in problemsolving, when you know WHAT change was made, you can figure out HOW it affects you, and then you can start to look for alternatives. If no changes in the webserver was made at all, then it probably is HTDIG in one or the other way.
