It's the end of summer in Europe. Many people may be returning from vacation...

I'm not a developer but I have been using htdig for years. I seem to recall having seen similar problems, but it's been about 2 years since I've used 3.1.6 (that is what you are using, isn't it?) so I don't remember exactly what the problem was...

So here's my thoughts:

- When in doubt, try running all commands in any script you are using from the command line, one by one, adding the -v switch to see a little more output about what is going on

- try indexing a different site with a default conf file modifying the one option you are trying to use and see if you get the same results (if you don't, then it's more likely there's a problem with your configuration or database creation method).

- try adding extra v on the -v switch: htdig -c /path/to/conf -vvv

- log output to a file and examine it with a fine toothed comb (or grep if you don't have time)

Hope that helps.

Hello all!

10 days ago I posted a plea for help regarding a serious problem I have with prefix (wildcard) searches. Is this such a hard nut to crack, or is it so trivial that it does not even warrant a RTFM reply (which BTW I have done repeatedly and carefully).

>>>Prefix search simply won't work. Whatever I do I get 0 results for prefix searches.

If there is someone out there who has experienced this problem before, or someone with a hunch, or the develpers...

Please?

Thanks.
Michael.
