If you are worried about the server load, but can afford to take your time, then just set  server_wait_time  to say 5 or 10 (seconds) That will allow your server to 'breathe' a little between requests, and avoid the indexing affecting other users. Are you indexing on- or off-line?

Ive got it working! With thumbnails too thanks to the htdig archives.

"From: Tony Crockford <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
search results with thumbnail images.

The load seems like it might be serious if many images exist but I'll only index it once in a while.

Turns out verio had htdig as an add on option through the control panel ver 3.1.6, with the shared hosting 2000 package.

Looks like if I want finer control for searching individual parameters I could modify the php output as "parameter: data" instead of its current table based structure. That way when it is indexed ill be able to search for "Make: Canon" and "Exposure Mode: Auto exposure". Or will htdig let me "quote" and "and" like google?

A big thanks to Tony, htdig and pjmt!

Subject: htdig photos and images with exif rdf iptc

Using The PHP JPEG Metadata Toolkit http://www.ozhiker.com/electronics/pjmt/ and htdig with the start_url attribute and urls that resolve to http://www.ozhiker.com/electronics/pjmt/library/Example.php?jpeg_fname=test.jpg many jpgs, will the load on my server be extreme? Is it possible to pipe the php to htdig as an external parser without as much load? Can the returned wordlist and index be searched or diefined into multiple fields. For instance can I modify the htsearch form to include multiple fields and search for all pictures taken with camera: canon and shutter speed: 1/60 ? I have linux and some php/xml skills, if any of this is possible could someone give me some guidance on where to start?
Regards

Eric
