It would be helpful if you told us the OS and the language you wrote the
parser in, but the first place I'd look is that your parser doesn't exit
cleanly so you're left with all the old processes, or that it doesn't
release files and you've run over the limit of open files.  Both these
limits vary with OS (and could be locally changed too).  The process
accounting programs you're going to need will also vary with OS.
