Michael,
What you are looking for are the Configuration Variables for Weight
Factors. (http://htdig.org/confindex.html) There are different factors
for different page elements: heading_factor, title_factor, text_factor etc.
You don't say which version of htDig you are using and there are some
subtle differences in the variable names between 3.1.6 and 3.2.0x.
HTH and points you in the right direction to continue your research.

hello,
how is it possible to change htdig in the source to parse the <h1> tag of
the pages instead of the <title>.
i read something about changing a line in html.cc - but couldn#T find
anything mentioned in an very old post.
best thing would be to treat <h1> as <title> (no need in storing the title
of the pages - the important content is in the h1.
thank you for any help!!
michael
