Well I've been spending some time working out bugs upon bugs with Andrew
here. First off, it seems we get segfaults on Solaris 2.6 in getdate, when
we call the system function strftime! Fortunately I have an ultra running
2.6 I can test.

But when we fixed that, it died in the HTML parser, as seen here. This is
clearly a showstopper. The HTML file is attached, though I'm betting on a
database problem...

Okay thanks I'll figure it out.

I have attached the HTML file, its one of the many sites hosted on the
machine, so I'm not sure what part of the file is causing the problem, i
only chose to search it because the site is very small and i could get
error messages faster.

As for the backtrace:

<h1>
Book Errata & Addenda</h1>

Although every effort was made to be accurate, errors and
omissions do occur in the book. We apologize for any
inconvenience or embarrassment this might have caused and we ask you
to use our <A HREF="feedback.html">feedback page</A> to report any other errors so
they can be corrected in the next printing of the book.<p>

<h2>
<A NAME="Heading3">Errata</A></h2>

p. 2: The following very important text was omitted from the back of the title page.
"All photos are either by Barry Shell or were provided by the respective scientists
for their chapters except for the photo of John Polanyi (p. 88) by Brian Willer,
Macleans; the photo of Jodi Kaczur and Arnold Schwarzenneger (p. 119) by Lorraine
Kaczur; and the images of NGC 4261 from the Hubble space telescope (p. 59) by Holland
Ford and Laura Ferrerese (Johns Hopkins University), Space Telescope Science
Institute, and NASA."
 <P>
p. 2: Laura Wallace did many of the pen and ink freehand drawings that appear on the
cover and throughout the book.
 <P>
p. 29: There is no need for the experimenter to record the number n. The number n is
just a name tag and is not part of the calculation. The numbers h0, h1, h2, etc. are
like saying "height zero", "height one", "height two", etc. The "n" just takes the
place of the 0, 1, 2, ... etc. in the hn notation. The number n is not used in the
calculation, hence there is no need to record it. We already give spaces to write down
h0, h1, h2, and h3 and these are the only numbers you need.

 <P>
p. 63: In the illustration (1. Mental Rotation Test) you can find two matches
for the object on the left, not just one as it says in the text.
<P>

p. 102: under number 5, somehow the last line got cut off. The missing words are "take
a long time to get exactly the right mutation."
 <P>
p. 120: There is a number (7) in the image that should not be there.
<P>
p. 124: The icons for male and female were accidentally transposed. The
graphic for male should be the graphic for female and vice versa. They are
correct throughout the short biography section, however.

p. 128: Alexander Graham Bell was born in 1847, not 1874.
 <P>
p. 157-8: Laidler received his B.A in 1937 at Oxford, where he later got an MA (1938)
and DSc (1940). During World War II Laidler worked in Canada (with a period in
England), and ended up as a Chief Scientific Officer at the Ballistics Laboratories in
Valcartier, Quebec.
 <P>
p. 165: Menten's first names were Maud Leonora (not Maude).
 <P>
p. 170: Howard Rapson died in March, 1997.
 <P>
p. 186: H. G. Wells should be under W not H in the glossary.
 <P>
