I like both the command-line and STDIN approaches. I frequently have the
need to update the search result for about 15 rapidly-changing pages, but
don't wish to do an update dig on my entire 15,000 page database.
Maintaining and merging separate databases is a nightmare. To create a file
containing just the 15 urls I want to re-dig, and pass a commandline
reference:

htdig --urlfile myurls.txt

or to just update one particular record:

htdig --url http://www.myserver.edu/pressreleases/nov12.htm

would be great.

Both of these methods would set max_hop_count: 0 to only index exactly what
you tell it to...

If nobody else is working on it, I would be glad to hack it in...
