OK.  Despite Loic's vote for the more wordy syntax, I think I'll go with
this simpler form.  It'll be easier to parse, therefore less of a challenge
to implement as time allows.

Yes, I've been doing some dusting off myself lately.  I've found a number
of bug fixes in the 3.2 code, that aren't in 3.1.x yet, and worked on
some bug fixes I haven't committed to 3.2 yet.  I want to put together a
bug fix patch collection for 3.1.2 users who want to stick to a stable
release, rather than going with 3.2.0b1 (when it comes out).  I don't
know that I want to have parallel releases (i.e. no 3.1.3), but an up to
date and tested patch collection would be useful.  I will try to make sure
these bug fixes that aren't in 3.2 yet, or aren't quite right, will be
in the next couple weeks.
