There currently is no way to set the cache size of Berkeley DB
for words.db and this has severe performance drawback. Marcel and I
will add this + transactions asap. It will be available next week.
Although transactions may seem a feature addition, we will merely
add the interface to be able to use transactions but will not activate
it by default. Regarding the berkeley db cache, this will require the
addition of a new parameter in default.cc but I think everyone will
agree that it's 100% necessary.
The basic idea to set the cache size is to have a cache that is big
enough to hold all the internal nodes of the Berkeley DB file, ie a maximum
of 1% of the file size (cache 1 Mb is ok for 100 Mb file). The default
cache size is 128kb -> ok for 12Mb file).
Cheers,
