Well, after discussing this with  loic, it seems reasonable to set the
default to something like 10Meg.

The current setting (defaults to the Berkeley default) are not good.

It would  be good to  set a default  value for htdig, and  a different
default value for htsearch, but as I said in my previous mail, it's ok
to set a  big cache size for htsearch, since it  only does one request
and exits afterwards. The bad case  would be if htsearch does a search
that spans  the whole index... then  it would fill up  it's 10 Meg....
but then again that might be a bad thing....

Dynamically determining the  size of the index seems  to me a delicate
problem.  Defaulting to  10Meg  seems reasonable for now?
