I found the bug that was making the compression fail. The fixes are
commited. :-)
That probably fixes the bug toivo reported. Could you check if it
works for you toivo?
I had hard-coded the max size for certain values to 16 bits, which was
enough for my tests but certainly not enough for the real word...
